Ripley's Believe It or Not!Unbelievable Stories for Guys
The perfect little black book for that guy in your life. Makes a great gift!

An eye opening collection of shocking tales for adults, uncensored and raw. Ripley's has take all those tales that were regarded either to dark, extreme, distasteful, profane or even complex for other Ripley's publications. Many of the tales in this book were previously shortened or censored when first published. Ripley's has gone back through their files and searched for the original sources and stories an then included them in this book just for guys. Ripley's has also included trivia in this print which guys are crazy about to make it even more unique.

Ripley's Unbelievable Stories for Guys opens with an interesting fact of the first hybrid vehicle which was actually invented in the 1900's. There are no photos in this printing but that does not in any way take away from all the fun this book is. You get a little bit of everything in this book that guys love including science, history, crime, laws, digital, technical, politics, food plus much more.

I loved reading this book and learning about all these cool and bizarre stories. This title is not for children but I would highly recommend it to the older teens who will find it highly entertaining. The compact size of this book makes it a great gift. It is nice and portable so guys can take it with them anywhere and with it's masculine black hardcover it makes a great gift for that dad in your life.

Summary:

Ripley Publishing brings its brand of bizarre, unbelievable and wild (but all true) stories to adults with the launch of the new book Unbelievable Stories for Guys.

The book is a collection of stories, trivia and lists that are decidedly dude-centric. The book is now available in both hardcover and ebook versions and makes a perfect Father's Day gift.

This isn't your kid's Ripley's Believe It or Not! book - but it is filled with the same type of quirky, fascinating, fun stories that Ripley's fans remember from their childhood. These "grown-up" stories stand on their own, without the signature photographs that many Ripley's fans are used to seeing.

What will fellas find fascinating in the book?

How about:

*The Russian who put his head in a particle accelerator and survived
*The corpse farm in Tennessee
*The billion mile golf drive
*When Niagara Falls ran dry
*Living on beer for Lent
*Dotcom disasters
*Daring prison breaks

Guys will not only notice that this is a different kind of Ripley's book on the inside, but also on outside. The cover comes in most men's favorite color - black - and the book is smaller than your average hardback book. Click here for a look inside Unbelievable Stories for Guys.

Moving My Blog From Blogger to Wordpress

To contact us Click HERE
to

I have partially moved my Blogger blog to WordPress. I am still working on categories so please excuse the mess. Google is penalizing me for having duplicate posts so I need to delete this blog asap.  In the meantime I have been deleting some content but it can all be found at my new blog. Give me a visit at autunbluesreview.com and leave me a comment. Because Wordpress does not use GFC I will sadly be losing many of my followers. Which means the only way you can now follow my blog is through the Feedburner subscription. You can find it at the top right of my About page until I figure out how to get in on the home page.
Since the process is going faster than I thought it would I am hoping to delete this blog by June 30. Before I do that I will be moving the current giveaways over. So right now giveaways are at a minimum due to the blog moving process.

What I Learned in the Process of Moving:

There is a Plugin in WordPress you can use to move your blogger blog over. These plugins change and are update all the time. For easy access to the most updated plugin, search your plugin tab in your WordPress blog. Under search type in "blogger to WordPress" for a list of the current plugins.

Once I started the plugin download depending on how large your blog is it sometimes downloads in increments so you need to continue clicking the download button if it stops. My blog was less than 2000 posts and it took about 20 minutes to download in total.

Pages and categories will not move you will have to move those manually. So once you move your blog over you will  need to hand categorize each post. If you have a template that gives you a featured pic under each post you will also need to do this manually with some templates.

My Handmade Jewelry Blog:

I am also in the process of moving some jewelry posts from this blog over to my new jewelry blog "
handmadejewelrytutor.com." So basically I am working on two new blogs at once. Let me tell you this is a labor of love as it has been loads of work and time, which is why I have not been posting as much. So hang in there with me on this. You can also take a peek at my new jewelry blog as it is live.

Thinking about moving your blog to WordPress from blogger or just looking for more information. WordPress has so much more to offer with their plugins. I am still in the learning process but happy to help anyone with their move. Leave me any comments or questions. So far happy with my move:)

To Heaven and Back by Mary C. Neal, MD. Review

To Heaven and Back by Mary C. Neal, MD.
A Doctor's Extraordinary Account of Her Death, Heaven, Angels, and Life AgainA True Story
Life is spiritial journey and second chances are real with God.

After having worked in the medical field for many years and seeing death first hand I was immediately interested in reading this title written by a real life medical surgeon who had a real near death experience. Throughout my lifetime I have read many real life NDE's of those who either through  traumatic injuries or illness passed away only to later be revived and describe in as much detail as possible what they have seen. This however is the first I have read a NDE coming from a medical surgeon.
As most stories of this nature what happened to Mary C. Neal in To Heaven and Back is a unique experience. Mary not only drowned, she was dead for over 15 minutes before coming back to life. Although short in nature Mary then describes her spiritual journey. Mary was given much insight into her life and that of her family. I truly believe Mary's story is sincere and she experienced what she did as she described many common events that are unique to someone who has experienced an NDE.
While I do not believe Mary described being in the presence of Jesus I do belief she was amongst spiritual beings and enlightening insight was given to her. I have already come across many NDE's who described being told that to a point we humans are given a choice as to who we are to be in this life beforehand. But also that once we are born those memories are removed from our consciousness. Although this is not recognized by Christians or cannot be found anywhere in the Bible does not mean it to be untrue. Many call this new age beliefs. How can it be a new age belief if it has been told to these people when experiencing an NDE. These people have not made this up on their own.
When one thinks about NDE experiences. Would one believe a real life NDE experience from a bible thumping religious fanatic. I know I myself would feel they maybe had delusions due to their extremes in religion? Many NDE stories I have come across have been from normal everyday people, not religious fanatics. Yet I have also come across NDE's from religious clergy that have gone to Hell and back. Why because life is about growing spiritually with God and how one treats others while here on this planet not about how many times one prays the rosary or attends church service. Yet even with these messages God sends back people are still blinded by religion which was created by man.
The reviews for this book will come down to those who have an open mind and believe Mary's NDE and those who will not. I feel Mary was given a second chance to life not only because she has much work yet to do. But also because through this story Mary can help many who may be feeling they are out of time to make a connection with God. Maybe they ignored God all their life and now are dying from a terminal illness or just old age. It is a message from God that he gives us all a second chance to be by his side, if not before than after death. God will not turn anyone away who is sincere about coming to him whether in life or after death. Death can be a really scary thing for those who have never given a second thought to God. There are many lost souls that can find comfort in Mary's story. A true story from someone who is not a bible thumbing fanatic and one has to be blind not to see that God purposely planned it this way.
Summary:

In 1999 in the Los Rios region of southern Chile, orthopedic surgeon, devoted wife, and loving mother Dr. Mary Neal drowned in a kayak accident. While cascading down a waterfall, her kayak became pinned at the bottom and she was immediately and completely submerged. Despite the rescue efforts of her companions, Mary was underwater for too long, and as a result, died.

To Heaven and Back  is Mary’s remarkable story of her life’s spiritual journey and what happened as she moved from life to death to eternal life, and back again. Detailing her feelings and surroundings in heaven, her communication with angels, and her deep sense of sadness when she realized it wasn’t her time, Mary shares the captivating experience of her modern-day miracle.

Mary’s life has been forever changed by her newfound understanding of her purpose on earth, her awareness of God, her closer relationship with Jesus, and her personal spiritual journey suddenly enhanced by a first-hand experience in heaven. To Heaven and Back will reacquaint you with the hope, wonder, and promise of heaven, while enriching you own faith and walk with God.

Are You Afraid of the Dark: The Tales of the Dead Man's Float

So this episode doesn't seem early on like it has too much potential to creep. Pass the scary intro, pass the typical Midnight Society chatter, hurp a durp durp, and the episode arrives at its intro. Basically, a kid in some pool starts screamin that somethings grabbing him in the water and the lifeguard jumps in to save him, but he can't get him out! The kid just drowns right there and one has to wonder... WHAT WAS PULLING HIM UNDER?

Cut ahead like 40 years or something to some nerd being nerdy and some bitch being bitchy. He invites her to see something that he thinks she'd like.

"He began to unzip his pants..."
Cut to next morning and it turns out the thing nerd boy wanted to show the chick was not his embarrassingly small genitalia, but was an abandoned pool in the schools basement (what the hell were they thinking). She says MAYBE YOU DON'T SUCK AT LIFE AFTER ALL (don't quote me on that) and cut to a few weeks later and hoeface convinced the school to set the pool up. THE PLOT THICKENS. Turns out that Mr. Nerd is helping her with her homework in exchange for sexual favors swimming lessons. Suddenly SOMETHING THROWS THEM OUT OF THEIR RAFT (why they have a raft in the swimming pool instead of just... standing on the edge of the pool I will never know). They think they're done for when suddenly HEROIC JANITOR PULLS THEM OUT IN THE NICK OF TIME! Why was he there when the only people in the pool were 2 young children? Why was he hiding from them until they were almost drowning? We may never know.

Pictured above: A convicted sex offender. With a HEART OF GOLD.

As to be expected from a senior citizen with a dead-end job, he has a boring story to tell. HE WAS THE LIFE GUARD IN THE INTRO, AND THE DROWNED KID WAS HIS BROTHERRR. He convinced the school to close the pool because it was killing people... Because the pool was built on an INDIAN BURIAL GROUND! When are people going to figure out that this kind of behavior will lead to homicidal haunts 95% of the time? It's common sense at this point, really. Anyways, old moustachio up there has no idea how to stop the beast. But science nerd MAGICALLY figures out that the ghost, smelling like ass, must be made of ACID. A native ghost made of fucking ACID, how bad can this get? So basically the kid decides to toss in some delicious chemicals to make the beast reveal its TRUE FORM. He tosses some Tang into the pool and the results are... ABSOLUTELY BAT SHIT INSANELY HORRIFYING.

The reason I dropped chemistry class.

SO CLEARLY, the producers forgot to mention to the director that this was a show for kids, but decided doing more filming to replace the beast with something less nightmare-inducing was too much strain on the budget. So this things been swimming around children in bathing suits and has been just dragging them down and going to town. GOD DAMN!

But as any hero would, the super hoe from the beginning of the episode has some death powder to burn the thing, but herpaderp nerd kid throws it out of her hands and into the pool. YOU'LL BURN YOURSELF OMG. Dumbass. They all decide to dive in to get it (kids these days) as Scruffy watches shitting bricks. The beast goes in to get them but being an indecisive creature just kind of fails at that. The kids grab the container, PUT GLOVES ON, and then destroy the beast.

Cut to like a week later and they're banging. Wow. Realistic.

Spook: 10/5
Funny: 0/5
Total: 4.5/5

If you're looking for an episode of these shows that are actually going to make you shit a brick, this one is what you'll be looking for every time.

Quote/Ode to Those who have Fallen Short

I said a while back that I was going to start posting blogs about the songs on the upcoming record. Well, I've finally decided to start doing that. These blogs are just kind of going to be about how these songs came to be and what they're about, so on, so forth. Hope you get something out of it. Here are the first two tracks.

Quote

This is the "intro" track to the album. In a world where everyone seems to do introductory tracks, I wanted to do something a bit different. Don't get me wrong, it's not the most original thing ever done by any means but I think we achieved a pretty cool concept. I wanted to make the intro something that would tie the album together as one, make it feel united. It starts with a whole slew of synth stuff and continues with the introduction of some guitars and percussion. The vocals also provide a melody that shows up throughout the album. The lyrics come in with a slightly altered chorus of the "title" track of the album, "Beauty Not So Fair". The ending drops off into silence, setting up for the beginning of opening song. It's called "Quote" because my friend AnnaJo has said that she wishes her first word would've been "quote" so that her last word could be "unquote". I thought that was a cool concept and since this is the first track on the first TinT album, I (with her permission) decided to name it that. If TinT ever records an album that we know is our last, the last track on that one will be "Unquote".

Ode to Those who have Fallen Short

This is a song that I wrote almost two years ago. When it’s been that long since you wrote something, it’s sort of hard to remember exactly what you were thinking when you wrote it. I just remember our old keyboard player Chad showing me a guitar riff that he wrote and, thinking it was really good, I decided to turn it into something. One thing I really like about this song is the way it’s set up. It’s not you’re normal verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus setup. I really like the flow.

As far as the subject matter, it’s pretty straightforward. It’s based around Romans 3:23 (for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God) which is a verse that I hear all of the time, but I’m not sure it sinks in. No one is good compared to God. We should stop trying to compare ourselves to one another when none of that even matters.

The song starts with listing some of the ways we fall short. One thing that gets me a lot is treating Jesus like a plate of armor that protects us from sin and therefore using that as an excuse for not acting like I should (because I’m covered). Or maybe my excuse is “God will come through no matter how I act” which is true, but still no excuse. Romans 3:8 says that we might as well say “let’s do something evil so that something good will come of it”. It makes more sense to just do something good to begin with. As Christians it sort of feels like that once we’ve accepted the truth that is Jesus, we label him as someone who’s only there to accept punishment for our crimes (even though we know there’s so much more to Him)

The second verse talks about how we point fingers at each other and how our “church” lives sometimes become nothing more than games with man-made rules for everyone to follow. The verse shifts gears a bit and talks about a personal struggle of mine. You see, I make it a point to really look at the things that the general “Christian” public sees as good or evil and decide for myself. This is good in some ways, I don’t let myself get freaked out by the world because I still have to live in it. When we let everything on TV shock us, those who aren’t Christians get a message of separation and arrogance instead of righteousness. Plus, sometimes we just have to take things at face value and not read to much into them. However, sometimes I use that as an excuse to be exposed to things that I maybe shouldn’t. How much is too much? Where’s that happy medium? Don’t ask me. I’m working on it.

The song continues into the chorus with a sort of realization that we just need to trust that God knows what He’s doing even if we don’t. We have to strive to do what we should be doing, but everyone gets lost. Everyone falls short. The problem is we don’t give God enough credit sometimes. We treat him like He has a history of not coming through or something. This holds us back in a lot of ways. I know this sounds cliché, but we’re not promised tomorrow. I think the sooner we begin to trust him on a regular basis, the sooner we can fully live our purpose.

The bridge falls into more of a reflective mood and it’s about a personal struggle of mine. I have big dreams, and sometimes I get a little carried away. Maybe I plan ahead without letting God in on it, therefore I just fall on my face. Countless times I’ve said “this is going to happen” or “that is going to happen” or “this record’s going to come out then” when I really don’t have as much control over these things as I think I do. The truth is, I’m not good enough. The only thing that separates me from the people that don’t have Jesus is just that; Jesus. We’re so concerned about what we have, what we don’t have, how we’re too young or too old that we sell God short of what he can do with a life. I guess the challenge that this song tries to get across is: Not one of us is better than the other. We may have our personal strengths and weaknesses, but ultimately we all fall short. If this wasn't the case, Jesus would not have had to die for us. So, let’s get that behind us and look ahead at our purpose. A purpose that isn’t about our ability, but about Him and what He’s blessed us with.

Okay, I'll be back. (Imagine that in an Arnold Schwarnzenegger voice)

Still funny....after 20 years....still funny.

-Nintendo D.S.
